Migrants needed to fuel workforce
WA's peak business organisation has raised concerns about the slowing of the nation's population growth, saying it makes no sense to cut back on the size of available workforce. With South West employers already finding it difficult to recruit workers, it is estimated that the region is forecasted to face a labour shortage of 46,000 workers by 2020.
Chamber Chief Executive Officer James Pearson said cutting back migration numbers would be bad for the South West, particularly investment hubs like Bunbury.
